Two accidents at Chingrighata and Entally resulted in six injuries.

Posted on December 12, 2022 By No Comments on Two accidents at Chingrighata and Entally resulted in six injuries.

Six people were hurt in two accidents that happened in the city on Sunday.

The first incident happened early on Sunday in east Kolkata near the Chingrighata crossing when a car coming from the EM Bypass headed towards Sector V allegedly hit a pillar of the New Garia-airport Metro viaduct while speeding, according to police.

The car’s four occupants, including the driver, suffered injuries.

The car apparently swerved dangerously to the left while travelling down the Salt Lake Bypass toward Sector V at around 4.30 in the morning, according to eyewitness accounts provided to the police.

Senior police officer: “The car’s front was destroyed, but the windscreen was intact.”

A few locals were startled out of their sleep by the crash, and they hurried to the scene and saved the injured. The four were transported to a neighbouring hospital. Later, a tow truck removed the automobile.

A few hours later, a central Kolkata SUV headed towards Entally on APC Road struck an app cab close to Taki Boys’ High School, the location of Sunday’s Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), causing a traffic jam.

The app cab advanced and struck another vehicle, which then ran down a motorbike. The helmeted rider of the motorbike slipped and landed on the pavement.

Guardians of TET examinees who were waiting outside the school were worried by the number of crashes. One of them, according to the police, informed a nearby officer about the accidents.

The motorcyclist was brought to ESI Hospital in Sealdah, and the app cab driver was taken to the NRS Medical College and Hospital. The driver, Jogendra Sharma, was checked into a medical facility.

After receiving treatment, the biker, Subhasish Bhattacharjee, was released.

“The collision happened on APC Road at roughly 1.45 p.m. The driver was taken into custody. The vehicle has been impounded and will be tested on Monday, according to a police officer from the Amherst Street police station.

“On Sunday, there was less traffic on the route. If it had been a workday, more people would have been hurt, the officer claimed.
