Opposition to ring the Election Commission tomorrow: Congress maps a street-to-Parliament campaign through October and November

New Delhi, October 5:A day before opposition MPs march on the Election Commission, the Congress held a high-level strategy meeting in Delhi and laid out a two-month agitation calendar — from a peaceful march tomorrow to village chaupals, a Ramlila Maidan rally, and a “Chalo Delhi” push in late November. The meeting, under the “Vote Bachao–Desh Bachao” banner, was attended by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, state presidents, in-charges, and heads of frontal organisations. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the session ran for about two hours and locked the next phase of the INDIA bloc’s protest over alleged “vote chori” and the demand that the Chief Election Commissioner be removed.**Tomorrow’s march**Opposition MPs have been asked to assemble at Makar Dwar at 10:30 a.m. on October 6. At 11 a.m. they will begin a peaceful march from Parliament House to the Election Commission. The party has framed the march as the opening move of a wider campaign, not a one-day protest.**The calendar**Ramesh spelt out the stages:- **October 8:** INDIA alliance parties will hold district-level padyatras, demonstrations, and meetings on the vote-theft charge and the demand to remove the Chief Election Commissioner.- **October 10–20:** The second phase shifts to the block level — meetings, bike rallies, padyatras, and cycle rallies.- **October 25–November 25:** The third phase goes to the village, with “Vote Rakshak” programmes and chaupal rallies under the “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” slogan. The stated aim of this month-long stretch is to gather information on about 13.5 crore people the opposition says are missing from the voter rolls.- **November 1:** A large rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.- **November 26:** A “Chalo Delhi” campaign built around six major yatras.Congress also signalled joint programmes with INDIA bloc partners and said a special programme has already begun in Kerala, with more protests to follow. The party’s line is that the fight will run “from the street to Parliament” through October and November, and that opposition unity should be turned into a broader public campaign rather than a Delhi-only show.#VoteBachaoDeshBachao #ElectionCommission #Congress #RahulGandhi #MallikarjunKharge #VoteChori #INDIAAlliance #ChaloDelhi #JairamRamesh #VoterList
