Doomdooma: Nowadays National Highway-15 has become rendezvous for crime and criminals ; the local people expressed concern over it on Wednesday.

“The Kako Road has road to Katil Road Nowadays. Loot ,murder, robbery, snatching, open gambling and liquor consumption by anti-social elements, commenting offensively on girl students and working women on road is often common on this road which most of the time go unreported. ” Birsa Munda, a local told Our India.

An SIS security personnel was shot dead by criminals previously while he was retaliating to foil an ATM booth loot beside NH-15 at Rupai Siding

The NH-15 is popularly known as Kako Road as it starts from Rupai and go Kakopathar town on wards including Dirak and enters Mahadevpur the eastern border of Arunachal Pradesh .The Tinsukia Bypass Road also have many criminal records previously, many go unreported.

The concern comes after a loot incident occurred on Wednesday at Kako Road .Two armed miscreants looted rupees 95,000 cash and a mobile phone from an employee of Bandhan Bank on NH-15 in broad daylight near Rangajan ME School which falls under Doomdooma police jurisdiction.

The incident took place at around 1 in afternoon when the victim identified as Dhiraj Lahan was on his way to Doomdooma from Dirak Bormesai area of Kakopathar after collecting the weekly premium amount.

The motorcycle borne miscreants threatened the bank employee with sharp weapons and snatched the cash and the mobile phone before fleeing the spot .

Sources said that the road has been used for all other illegal activities like carrying woods , coal,oil,drugs , liquor, cattles,arms,human trafficking, animals trafficking etc. Since long.

Criminals manage to escape through Bypass Road after committing crimes as both are connected with link roads and gardens are there beside the road.

” The permanent solution is to conduct police patrolling day and night on the NH-15,NH-37 and Bypass Road. Police Check posts ,an outpost beside the road between Kakopathar to Rupai Siding, near Badlabhata Chariali , Makum overbridge can also control all types of crimes on the Road here .” Local people said.

Illegal encroachment on road,illegal vehicles parking, animal gatherings, dog biting, sharp turns and narrow old bridges which causes frequent accidents, heap of garbages are certain other major issues related with the Road.

Tinsukia Superintendent of police Abhijit Gourav was not available for comment.
