Guwahati: An FIR was filed against OTT platform ‘Zee 5’ and Director Srijit Mukharji for misrepresentation of Bihu dance and Bihu dancer costume in a web series ‘Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke’, which is released by Zee 5 on January 26, 2023. The FIR was filed at Gandhibasti police station in Guwahati.
“I want to draw your attention to the misrepresentation of Bihu dance in a Web series release by popular OTT platform “Zee5”. On 26, January 2023, Zee5 released a web series called “Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke” for their audience. Where we saw the form of Bihu dance and the dresses of “Bihuwa” (a Bihu dance performing male), these have been wrongly presented in the second episode of the web series,” Shah Alam Ali stated in the FIR.
“I feel it is an intense attack on Assamese culture and tradition. It creates misconceptions about our culture worldwide,” he stated.
