Nashik: In preparation for Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh recently conducted a joint inspection of key railway stations in Nashik district to review the preparedness. The inspection was carried out in coordination with the railway department and other concerned agencies, focusing on the condition of infrastructure and passenger handling capacity.

The inspection covered Kasbe Sukene, Kherwadi, Odha, and Deolali railway stations. Existing facilities at these stations were reviewed on-site, and discussions were held regarding the necessary improvements and expansion of amenities. During the inspection at Deolali Railway Station, Brigadier N. R. Pandey, President of the Deolali Cantonment Board, was also present. Commissioner Shekhar Singh and Brigadier Pandey held a detailed discussion on the facilities, management, and coordination within the station premises.

Senior officials from various departments were present during the inspection. During the inspection, detailed discussions were held at each station regarding shortcomings in infrastructure, crowd management, inter-departmental coordination, and last-mile connectivity.

Special emphasis was placed on increasing platform capacity, improving entry and exit arrangements, enhancing passenger amenities, cleanliness, availability of drinking water, directional signage, and coordination with road transport services. Measures required to smoothly manage the massive influx of devotees during peak periods were also discussed.

On this occasion, Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “Lakhs of devotees are expected to arrive through railway stations during Simhastha 2027. Therefore, robust infrastructure, effective crowd management, and strong coordination among all agencies are essential. Today’s inspection has helped identify local-level requirements clearly, and we are committed to completing them on time to ensure devotees have a safe and convenient travel experience.”
