Imphal, July 21: Over 3000 Kuki women on Friday staged sit-in-protest in Manipur’s Moreh against gross human rights violation upon Kuki people by Meitei community.

The sit-in-protest programme was organised by Kuki Women Union and Human Rights, Moreh.

The protesters held placards which reads Kuki women molested & raped at free will by Meitei “, hang the culprits” We can’t live with rapist goverment.

“Today, we organised the sit-in-demonstration programme against the inhuman and barbaric incident where two women were gang raped and paraded naked. We strongly condemned the incident and urged the government to take strong action against the culprits,” said a woman protester.

She further said, “Its a gross human rights violation upon Kuki women, children. Justice should be served to the rape victims. We urged to take immediate action against the accused,”.

The protesters demanded capital punishments to the mob who were involved in the incident and appeal national & international bodies to intervene to bring justice.
