Manipur: 212 people who fled to Myanmar after the ethnic violence broke out, return to their original home

Imphal: Manipur BJP leader R.K Imo Singh on Saturday said good news for the people of the state because 212 Manipuri’s who have fled to Myanmar to take shelter after the ethnic violence since May 3, has returned to the Indian soil.

R.K Imo Singh is an MLA from Sagolband Legislative Assembly constituency.

Speaking to media persons, R.K Imo Singh said, “Well its a great news for the people of Manipur because the Manipuri’s who have fled to neighbouring country Myanmar to take shelter after the ethnic violence since May 3, has now returned to the Indian soil and taken temporary shelter at Moreh in Assam Rifles camp,”.

“Its a very great news across the state and the state government should ensure that this people should be rehabilitated to their original home. We are hoping that the state government should soon start the process of constructing houses and rehabilitated the people in their original place. It is not only Moreh across all the parts of the state wheather it Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Imphal and any part of the valley. The state government has initiated measures to ensure that these houses are construct. As u see the government has taken measures to construct prefabricated houses in the valley,”.

He said, “The state government will ensure that the people should go to their original houses,”.

At least 150 people have been killed and over 400 people were wounded in the violence that began in May.

More than 60,000 have been forced from their homes as the army, parliamentary forces and police struggle to quell violence.

Police armouries have been looted, hundreds of churches and more than a dozen temples ruined, and villages destroyed.
