BJP worker had a fight with Cops Over protest of rising dengue case

BJP supporters and police officers got into a fight on Thursday during a protest march against the Trinamool Congress administration over the increase in dengue cases in West Bengal.

The youth wing of the BJP, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), took to the streets to demand that the government take measures to stop the spread of the vector-borne disease. In front of the Yogayog Bhawan in Central Kolkata, where they were halted, at least 60 BJP leaders and supporters, including MLA Agnimitra Pal, were detained. They were then driven to Lalbazar. The BJYM employees were supposed to go to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) office and hand Mayor Firhad Hakim a document regarding dengue.

According to the reprot of Indian express.“In a democratic country like ours, we are we not allowed to raise issues concerning the common man. Why can’t the government release the data on the dengue death toll and the number of people infected? We gathered today to ask questions that everyone in Bengal is asking. The TMC government is trying to suppress the data on the disease. Aren’t they (state government) answerable to the people of Bengal?” MLA Agnimitra Paul asked.  “The state has seen a massive rise in dengue cases in the last few months. At least 50 people have died in Kolkata alone. The state government tampered with data during Covid-19 and the same is happening now. No one knows as How many people have been infected, how many people have died,”.

“We started from our party office at Murlidhar Sen Street in central Kolkata but the police stopped us on the way even as it was a peaceful procession,”.

The march was causing vehicle movement to be impeded, according to the police, therefore the agitators were moved from the road connecting centre Kolkata to the north.

“The situation is serious, but the KMC has taken none significant efforts to curb the dengue crisis,” said BJP councillor Sajal Ghosh.
According to a different party leader, the party will continue to stage such protests against the increase in dengue and malaria cases.
