Assam: Two youth killed in road mishap in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: In a major road mishap, two youths were killed on the spot after their bike collided head on with a car near Bogibeel bridge NH 52 in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

The road mishap took place at around 11 am on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as- Hirak Jyoti Patir and Jagat Patir of Dhemaji district.

According to reports, the two youths travelling on a bike (AS 12 AB 2517) from Dibrugarh side and the car Tata Tiago(AS-07 T-3274) was coming from the opposite direction. The bike was over speeding and collided head on with the car.

According to police, both the youths died on the spot. They were taken to the hospital but doctor declared them brought dead.

“Due to overspending the accident took place. The bike was overspending and could not control their speed as a result collided head on with the vehicle,” said a police official.

He said, “Most of the road accidents took place due to overspending and consumption of alcohol. The youths who lost their lives due to overspending. The youths who ride motorcycle should understand and control their speed whole riding. Recently, many young people got killed in road accidents in Dibrugarh due to overspending,”.

It has been noted that most of the roads in Dibrugarh are in worst condition. Big potholes has emerged in the roads which can caused major mishap.

The Dibrugarh bypass has become a death trap for the motorist. Many potholes has emerged in the road which has become a headache for the people.
