Guwahati: Assam police DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Monday said nine modules of Bangladeshi linked Ansaral Bangla Terror (ABT) were busted and 53 jehadi elements were arrested so far in the state.
Talking to media persons, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said, “So far nine modules of ABT were busted and 53 jehadi elements were arrested. Madrassa are working fine, different streams of Madrassa are there of Islamic tenets. Not all Madrassas are doing but there are evidences of radicalisation, there is indeed a threat,”.
“People who run Madrassas we called them and discussed about the matter and asked them to make a board. We told them to create a system of regularzation. Collect all the details and filled up the prescribe formate and put in the portal. If any teachers come from outside, share all his details before appointing him in the Madrassas,” DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said.
DGP further added, “We have arrested 43 Popular Front of India (PFI) members and 6 Campus Front of India (CFI). Of course they are not doing anything right now. Some of the Bangladeshi linked Ansaral Bangla Terror characters also running from us. But our team will soon arrest them. Curriculum if modernise will be a good thing, infact they also want it that way. Arabic education is important, but skilling is also important,”.
“We are formulating few rules small Madrassa will be merged with bigger ones, who has less than 50 students. Muslim people have helped us in this venture. We will soon have a figure in our hands. Over 100 Madrassas have been merged already,” the DGP asserted.
Meanwhile, Assam government has become tough against the Madrassas in Assam after ABT module busted from the Madrassas in Assam.
Some of the Madrassas were demolished in the state which drew criticism from the opposition parties.
