GUWAHATI: Massive fire engulfed a residential building at Lokhra area in Guwahati on Sunday night destroying the property.
According to sources, the house belonged to Archana Terongpi, who was renting it.
“We don’t know how the fire caught in the building but we heard explosion of cylinder from the building. Everything in the house was destroyed due to the massive fire,” said a local resident of the area.
No casualties have been reported. Firefighters were quick to respond to the situation and it took them an hour to contain the fire
Similar fire incident on Saturday night at a house in Kahilipara’s Jatia area, where three cylinders exploded due to the blaze.
It is yet to be determined what caused the fire in both incidents.
“People should be very careful to avert this type of incidents. Due to the cylinder blast, the fire spreads in the entire house destroying lakhs of property,” said an official.
