On April 25, the Calcutta High Court had passed a rare order calling for the exhumation of the IIT Kharagpur student’s body from his burial ground to conduct a second post-mortem at the Medical College and Hospital, Calcutta, saying that it was necessary to bring out the truth behind his death.

Faizan Ahmed belonged to Assam’s Tinsukia and his body was buried at the Amolapatty Kabarshtan in Dibrugarh town on October 16, 2022.

Faizan’s parents filed a writ petition in Calcutta High Court, alleging that their son was murdered.

Speaking to reporters, Rehana Ahmed, mother of Faizan Ahmed said, “We want justice for our son, who was murdered. We are hopeful that Calcutta High Court will give us justice. Today, his body was exhumed and tomorrow he will be taken to Calcutta Medical College for second post-mortem,”.
