Mumbai: Zara closed its flagship store at the Ismail Building in Mumbai’s Fort area on February 23, marking the end of its operations after 110 years of service in South Mumbai.
The store has a massive 51,300 square feet of space spread over five floors in the business district near Flora Fountain. It quickly became a popular destination for fashion enthusiasts and elite shoppers in the city.
Zara’s operations in India are managed by Inditex Trent, a joint venture between Spain’s Inditex and the Tata Group’s retail arm, Trent Ltd. The company paid a hefty ₹30 crore annually in lease rent for the flagship store, which had a 15-year lease with a five-year lock-in period.
Following the closure of the store, netizens started reacting and posting on the X, giving different reasons for the shutdown of Zara.
