Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, had to face the scissors of the Central Board of Film Certification. The film which is slated to release in the next few days, has been censored. While CBFC didn’t ask for any cuts in action sequences, there are a few other scenes and dialogues that were asked to be removed and changed.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, CBFC asked the makers to change an obscene dialogue, and an obscene gesture made by a character was asked to be removed. The gesture was for 2 seconds.
CBFC also asked the makers to remove 9 seconds of sensual visuals from the film, and reportedly, these visuals are of Kiara’s bikini avatar from the song Aavan Javan. When the song was released, Kiara’s bikini look had become the talk of the town as the actress looked super hot in it.
After the changes were made, War 2 got U/A 16+ certificate with a runtime of 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds. However, reportedly, the makers approached CBFC on August 8 again with a revised run time of 2 hours, 51 minutes and 44 seconds.
A source revealed to the portal that War 2 was passed by the Revising Committee (RC) instead of the Examining Committee (EC). The source said, “It is possible that the EC must have asked for many changes, which must have prompted War 2 makers to approach the RC.”
“The Presiding Officer of the RC was Padma Shri Ramesh Patange. He is known to clear those films for which the EC has had reservations. Last year, he had cleared the controversial film Hamare Baraah and also Vedaa. The latter also had faced issues with the EC, after which the RC cleared the film, albeit with changes,” added the source.
War 2 Release Date
War 2 is slated to release on August 14, 2025. The film’s advance booking will kickstart on August 10, 2025. It won’t be getting a solo release. War 2 is going to clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
