The Shantinagar Police booked a 44-year-old Baba for allegedly duping a 46-year-old woman under the pretext of healing her husband and her son, who was affected by black magic. The accused Baba has been identified as Amzad Asad Khan alias Hazrat Baba, 44, a resident of Bhiwandi.

The incident took place in the Avchitpada area located in Millatnagar, Bhiwandi, between October 2023 and 2025.

Following this, her husband would be healed from black magic. Baba took Rs 887,000 on various occasions under the pretext of bringing a dead body and performing back magic.

The investigating officer said that Baba informed her that a dead body was found in Malegaon. Baba and the victim went to Malegaon, where Baba contacted a man over the phone regarding the dead body and demanded Rs 10 lakh for it.

However, the victim was unable to pay Rs 10 lakh for it. Thereafter, they returned to Bhiwandi. The victim’s husband is suffering from blood pressure and hypertension; he runs a home appliance shop in Bhiwandi.

The Baba asked her about the dead body that a person from Malegaon negotiated from 10 lakh to 8 lakh. Thereafter, she agreed and paid him in several part payments over 15 months.

The Baba told her that he had arranged a dead body and kept it in his house to perform black magic. He asked her and her son to come to his home. The victim was afraid about it and told him that she would not come. Then, the Baba told her that he would show her black magic on a video call.

The police said that even so, her husband has not been cured of the disease. The victim realized that she has been duped by the baba.

Vinayak Gaikwad, a senior police inspector, said, “The victim, along with the NGO, approached us and narrated the entire episode that occurred to her. We filed an FIR against him. The accused was arrested and produced in court, and he was remanded in police custody until January 15.”

Gaikwad further said that during the interrogation with Baba, he revealed that he bought duplicate skeletons from Mumbai and had been shown on a video call. Moreover, he revealed that he lent Rs 3 lakh to her for her business and took interest every month.

A case was filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the relevant sections 3(1) and 3(2) of The Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
