Mumbai: A 12-year-old boy, Ayush Kirte, was attacked and injured by a German Shepherd near BMC School No. 02, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar East, around 2:00 PM.

The incident occurred while Ayush was playing with his friends outside the school gate. As per Ayush’s Father Amol kirte Complaint received, the Pant Nagar Police have registered FIR against Dog owner Abdul Karim Pradhan under Sections 125, 125(a) and 291 of BNS Act and, Section 106 of Maharashtra Police Act.

According to Police, Complainant Amol Kirte, Ayush’s father, the dog, owned by Abdul Karim Pradhan, was roaming without a leash or muzzle. The dog reportedly lunged at Ayush and bit him on his left wrist and waist, causing bleeding injuries.

Upon learning about the incident, Amol rushed to the scene and found his son in distress. He identified the dog as a German Shepherd and confirmed it was kept by Abdul Karim Pradhan at his residence. The injured boy was taken to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment.

Amol claimed that Abdul Karim Pradhan displayed a dismissive attitude when confronted about the attack, stating that he had a license for the dog and that Amol could do nothing about it. A formal complaint has been registered at the Pant Nagar Police Station under relevant sections. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Pet Owner’s Responsibility as per BMC guidelines As per local regulations, pet owners are required to Leash their dogs in public spaces. Ensure dogs are vaccinated against rabies. Register their pets with the veterinary Health Department of BMC. Failure to adhere to these regulations can result in legal action and fines.

Always leash and muzzle dogs in public areas to avoid incidents like this. Maintain up-to-date vaccinations and registrations for pets under rules of Veterinary Health Department of BMC. The fine for not cleaning up pet poop is Rs 500/-.
