Gujarat Bulk Drug Park Jambusar, the blunt times

Gandhinagar, Gujarat – Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an on-site inspection of the massive ₹3,920 crore Bulk Drug Park under development in Jambusar, Bharuch district, marking a crucial step in Gujarat’s mission to become the pharmaceutical manufacturing hub of India.

Spread over 2,015 acres (815 hectares), the park is being developed by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) under the Bulk Drug Park Policy 2020, introduced by the Central Government to boost self-reliance in pharma production.

“This project will significantly reduce our dependence on imports for bulk drugs and provide a robust foundation for pharmaceutical growth in Gujarat,” said Bhupendra Patel, during his visit.

During his inspection, Patel reviewed ₹550 crore worth of common infrastructure works currently underway. These include approach roads, a compound wall, internal roads, pre-cast stormwater drains, a water supply system, and effluent disposal systems.

He also participated in a tree plantation drive at the park, emphasizing the government’s commitment to sustainable industrial development.

“By 2027, this park will transform Bharuch into a key player in the global pharma supply chain,” a senior GIDC official noted.

The Chief Minister issued on-the-spot guidance to project teams to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards. The park is expected to attract major pharmaceutical companies and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

The visit was accompanied by MLA D.K. Swami, GIDC MD Praveena D.K., Bharuch Collector Gaurang Makwana, and GIDC Chief Engineer Priyankan Menat, among other key officials.

With this strategic initiative, Gujarat further strengthens its position as the engine of India’s industrial growth, focusing not just on investment, but also on infrastructure, innovation, and employment generation.
