Ulhasnagar city is located near Kalyan and is about 50 kilometers from Mumbai. Ulhasnagar is famous for its variety of foods and clothes markets, such as Gajanan Market, the jeans market known as Ulhasnagar Number Five, Hosiery items and the furniture market. It is notable that in the denim market, orders are placed from across India. Ulhasnagar’s jeans, shirts, and other clothing items are transported widely.

The furniture market is one of the markets where furniture can be found at very reasonable prices compared to other cities. Ulhasnagar is known for its new variety of food items, such as Dal Pakwan, Chola Samosa, Chana Bhel, Papadi Dal, butter Papadi, and Butter Puri. Locals say that many people come to Ulhasnagar solely to enjoy these special dishes, as they are not available anywhere else except in Ulhasnagar.

The small-scale industries have been established in Ulhasnagar, such as bag manufacturing, biscuit, chocolate manufacturering and packaging, silk and naynole, garments etc. Ulhasnagar city is located near Ulhas river.

Ulhasnagar is very advanced in making cheapest rate of items. The Ulhasnagar is known as the mini USA across the state and cities.

Ulhasnagar is part of the Kalyan constituency in the Lok Sabha. Ulhasnagar comes under the MMR region. About 2 lakh Sindhis are residing in Ulhasnagar, as per sources.

President Deepak Chhatlani, from the Ulhasnagar Shopkeeper Association (USA), stated, “We manufacture every products or items at very low rates. We believes increase selling and keeps minimizing profits. We engage ourselves in the work to reduce costs. Our opponents always blemish or defame the products and items made in Ulhasnagar.”

He further added that there are many jeans, shirts, garment manufacturing units, fashion factories, electronic item manufacturing units, car parts manufacturing units, and plastic and painting units. We generate employment here after getting involved in the business line.”

Manoj Lasi, a leader from the Team Omi Kalani, speaking with a reporter, said that people who come from Pune, Mumbai, and adjacent cities to Ulhasnagar to eat Ulhasnagar’s famous or unique item, Dal Pakwad, Dal Sandwich, and Butter Papadi.

Moreover, the wooden god temple manufacturing unit has been established here. It supplies across India, and orders are placed in huge quantities by interstate businessmen.

Naresh Durgani, city, President, Federation Sindhunagar Vyapari Association said, ”

The Sindhi people came to India, settled in Ulhasnagar, and started their businesses from the ground up. They had not received any benefits from the state government. Nowadays, in the commercial sector, 90 percent of Sindhis are engaged in various sectors such as jewelry shops, garment shops, Kirana shops, hotels, etc.

The Sindhi community firmly believes in doing business and plays a major role in the development of Ulhasnagar. We have generated thousands of employment opportunities in Ulhasnagar and paid substantial taxes, such as house taxes and GST, to the state government.”

The total population of Ulhasnagar is of over 6 lakh.Ulhasnagar has a total of 2,83,379 voters, including 1,51,378 males, 1,31,898 females, and 103 transgender individuals. “In the Ulhasanagar constituency people’s including Marathi, Sindhi, Punjabis, Bangali, Gujrati, Muslim, South Indians and Uttar Pradesh residents.

A shopkeeper from Gajanan Market said that people come from Nashik, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, and adjacent cities to purchase wedding invitation cards and brides and grooms’ clothes. Hemant Shukla, a resident of Bhiwandi, said that car accessories can be obtained at a very cheap rate and good quality compared to other cities.

Umesh Tiwari, a boutique showroom in Bhiwandi, said, “The rate of denim and shirts is very reasonable, and the quality is also good compared to other cities. Indeed, as businessmen, we want to purchase at a reasonable rate and later sell it to the local area at a low rate to increase sales.”

History:-

As a result of partition, Sindhis, who had come to Ulhasnagar and they have no money in their hands, had to live in this city looking and doing business from ground up.

The speed of development process in Ulhasnagar increases with the formation of Ulhasnagar Municipality in 1960. Now, this city is within the Mumbai Conurbation, even though the town lies outside Mumbai city. Now, this city is one of the important exporters of jeans, fabrics, clothes all over the world.
