Eminent Indian Artist Satish Gupta’s Meditative Vision Unfolds at Bespoke Art Gallery, Ahmedabad-PNN

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], February 03: The internationally famous Indian artist Satish Gupta’s big solo exhibition, “Haiku of a Still Mind,” at Ahmedabad’s Bespoke Art Gallery, establishes a new standard for contemporary art in India. Curated and presented by Bespoke Founder Devin Gawarvala, the show will open on February 1st, 2026, and run through March 10th, 2026. It provides an immersive experience with one of India’s most deep contemplative artistic disciplines.

“Haiku of a Still Mind” is not merely an exhibition—it is an invitation into stillness. Rooted in silence, contemplation and heightened awareness, the show brings together an exceptional body of Gupta’s paintings and sculptures that explore rhythm, void, material memory and inner consciousness. Each work unfolds slowly, encouraging viewers to pause, reflect and experience art as a living presence rather than a visual spectacle.

A Landmark Moment for Gujarat’s Art Landscape

With Haiku of a Still Mind, Bespoke Art Gallery reinforces its commitment to presenting museum-quality exhibitions and fostering serious artistic discourse in Gujarat.

Mr. Devin Gawarwala, Founder & Spokesperson, Bespoke Art Gallery, Ahmedabad said that “With Satish Gupta’s solo show, Bespoke Art Gallery becomes the first gallery in Gujarat to present a comprehensive solo exhibition of an artist whose work is globally recognised for its meditative depth and philosophical rigor. This exhibition reflects the strength and vision of our gallery—to bring museum-quality shows, serious artistic dialogue, and landmark exhibitions to the state.

The show features an exceptional body of paintings and sculptures created in premium materials such as bronze, brass, copper, and mixed metals, with refined finishes including gold, silver, and patina. The artworks range from ₹5 lakhs to ₹5 crores, underscoring not just their material value but their cultural and artistic significance.

At Bespoke Art Gallery, we are committed to creating immersive, experiential environments that allow viewers to disconnect from the outside world and engage deeply with art, contemplation, and creative excellence.”

Art as Presence: The Meditative Language of Satish Gupta

Born in Delhi in 1947, Satish Gupta stands among India’s most versatile and philosophically engaged contemporary artists. A painter, sculptor, poet, writer, calligrapher, draftsman, muralist and designer, Gupta’s practice spans decades of deep spiritual inquiry and disciplined artistic exploration. Educated at the College of Art, New Delhi, and later in graphic arts in Paris, his work reflects a rare synthesis of Eastern philosophy and modernist abstraction.

Gupta’s artistic language is informed by Zen quietude and elemental energy. His sculptures and paintings function as spatial meditations, where metal, form and void merge to create moments of profound stillness. Working with materials such as bronze, copper, brass, steel and mixed media, Gupta approaches each artwork as a dialogue between material memory and inner silence—allowing energy to move gently through form and absence.

Monumental Works and Global Recognition

Satish Gupta’s artistic legacy is marked by several iconic public artworks that reflect the scale and depth of his vision:

  • “The Buddhas Within” — a 23-foot copper sculpture installed at the Prince of Wales Museum (CMVS), Mumbai

  • “Surya – The Sun God” — a monumental copper and brass installation at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi

  • “The Five Elements” — a large-scale metal installation at the Jindal Centre, New Delhi

  • 30-foot Mural at Bengaluru International Airport, integrating rhythm, movement and architectural space

His works are housed in prestigious collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, and have been exhibited extensively across Europe, North America and Asia.

Beyond object-based practice, Gupta’s oeuvre also includes haiku poetry, abstract landscapes, live performance art and environmental installations—most notably “MA,” a 1.6-kilometre-long painting created on the shores of Puducherry, reflecting harmony between nature, time and human presence.
