Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three miscreants attacked and injured a woman and stabbed her 27-year-old son to death when he tried to save her. The incident took place under the MIG police station limits on Sunday night. According to police, the deceased was identified as Mahesh Bamniya, a resident of Naya Basera.
He was a caterer. His family members said the incident occurred around 10:30 pm when Mahesh’s mother Marubai objected to accused Suraj Rathore, Ashutosh Gokhle and Ram using abusive language in her locality.
The accused attacked her with a knife, injuring her finger. When Mahesh intervened to protect her, they stabbed him multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding. The police registered a case against the three accused and arrested them. They also detained an accomplice of the accused and were interrogating him to verify his role in the murder.
One of the accused associated to listed criminal Salman Lala
One of the three accused Ashutosh Gokhle has been associated to a listed criminal Salman Lala. He was an accused in the murder of an event operator in MIG area in 2023.
Victim’s marriage was scheduled in May
The deceased Mahesh was supposed to visit a woman’s house for marriage on Monday. His family was preparing for his marriage scheduled in May.
Kin protest with body outside MIG police station
The family members of the deceased staged a protest outside the MIG police station, placing Mahesh’s body on the road and blocking traffic on Monday afternoon. They demanded that the accused be hanged and their houses be demolished, claiming they were habitual offenders who had been troubling residents for a long time. They alleged that hooliganism had increased in their area, but the police had not taken any action, which led to Mahesh’s murder.
Senior police officials reached the spot and pacified the protestors, urging them to take the body for cremation. They assured the protesters that strict action would be taken against the accused and also against others if complaints were received from residents. ACP Narendra Rawat said that all three accused had prior criminal records and legal action was being taken against them. He added that while the police had not previously received any complaints about hooliganism in the area, they would now verify the information provided by the deceased’s family and take preventive measures against miscreants.
