MP News: Milk Prices Rise By ₹2–₹4 Per Litre Amid Increase In Cattle Feed Cost

Posted on April 1, 2026 By NewsX 360 No Comments on MP News: Milk Prices Rise By ₹2–₹4 Per Litre Amid Increase In Cattle Feed Cost

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The retail prices of milk increased by ₹2 to ₹4 in major districts of Madhya Pradesh from Wednesday, the first day of the new financial year.

The price hike affects Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Bhopal, Jabalpur and other places. A top official of a milk vendors’ organisation said, the reason behind the increase in rate is the rising cost of animal feed during summer.

As of April 1, 2026, loose milk, which used to be sold for ₹60 per litre in Indore, will now be sold for ₹63 per litre.

According to vendors, the increase has been driven by rising fodder costs during the summer season. This has significantly impacted dairy operations and supply chains.

New rates are as follows:

Open/Loose Milk: Now priced at ₹63 – ₹65 per litre

Home Delivery: Some vendors have added an extra ₹1 per litre as delivery charges

Packaged Milk: Branded options such as Amul and Nandini continue to range between ₹60 – ₹80 per litre depending on fat content and packaging

A2 Cow Milk: Premium varieties from local farms are being sold at around ₹80 per litre

Milk prices in all the cities have been increased as per the local conditions, he added.

The officials from the milk vendors’ organisation added, “We had to increase milk prices due to the shortage of green fodder during the summer season and the increase in animal feed prices. The milk production capacity of cattle decreases during summer anyway.”
