Indian Companies Face US Heat, Sanctioned For Importing Petrochemicals From Iran

Posted on July 31, 2025 By NewsX 360 No Comments on Indian Companies Face US Heat, Sanctioned For Importing Petrochemicals From Iran

Key Highlights:

– Six Indian firms accused of buying Iranian oil products worth millions.

– US freezes their assets, bans trade with American businesses.

– Sanctions aim to push behavioral change, not just punishment.

New Delhi: The United States has sanctioned six Indian companies for importing petroleum and petrochemical products from Iran. According to the US, these companies broke American laws that restrict doing oil trade with Iran, a country under strict sanctions.

The US believes that the money Iran earns from these oil sales is used to spread unrest in the Middle East, which goes against global peace efforts.

Which Indian Companies Are Sanctioned?

Here are the six Indian companies now under US sanctions:

Alchemical Solutions Private Limited: Bought over USD 84 million worth of Iranian petrochemicals between January and December 2024.

Global Industrial Chemicals Limited: Imported methanol and other products worth more than USD 51 million between July 2024 and January 2025.

Jupiter Dye Chem Private Limited: Purchased over USD 49 million worth of Iranian products, especially toluene, between January 2024 and January 2025.

Ramniklal S Gosalia And Company: Bought methanol and toluene worth over USD 22 million from Iran.

Persistent Petrochem Private Limited: Imported about USD 14 million in Iranian petrochemical products between October and December 2024.

Kanchan Polymers: Imported over USD 1.3 million worth of products, including polyethylene, from Iran.

What Do These Sanctions Mean?

The sanctions have several effects:

– All assets or accounts of these companies in the US are frozen.

– No American individual or company can do business with them.

If any company buys 50 percent or more shares in these firms, it also automatically falls under US sanctions.

These companies cannot use money, goods, or services for transactions involving the US, unless they get special permission from the US Treasury Department.

What Did the US Government Say?

The US State Department said the purpose of the sanctions is not to punish, but to bring a positive change in behavior. The affected Indian companies have the right to appeal or file a petition with the US Treasury if they want to challenge or explain their situation.

This step is part of the US’s increased pressure on Iran and shows a tougher stand on countries or companies involved in Iran’s oil trade.

What’s India’s Response?

So far, India’s government and the sanctioned companies have not made any official statements or responses regarding the sanctions.

This development may also affect India-US trade relations and bring more attention to global enforcement of sanctions involving Iran.
