Unnao: In a shocking incident which came to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, a young girl insisted on marrying her sister-in-law by relation. Over the past six months, the two women had developed a close bond. However, their romantic relationship led to disputes, after which the bhabhi (sister-in-law) allegedly consumed poison. The married woman’s condition became critical and her family admitted her to Bangarmau CHC for treatment.
Five days earlier, both the young woman and the married woman had eloped, but the police located them and handed them over to their respective families. The husband of the married woman had distanced himself from her, while the young woman accused her family of feeding her poison.
How It Started
The young woman, who lives in the Behata Mujawar area of Unnao, developed a close friendship with a married woman from the same village. The married woman is related to her as a sister-in-law, as their families know each other well. Over the past six months, their bond turned into love and they decided to marry.

Family Opposition and Accusations
When their families found out about their relationship, they objected strongly. The young woman claims that the married woman’s family assaulted her and even forced her to consume poison when she went to meet her partner. She also alleged that her partner was beaten by her family.
Previous Incidents of Elopement
A few days earlier, the two women had run away together. However, the police found them and handed them back to their families.
The young woman’s father said that his daughter was taken to the hospital after the alleged poisoning incident. He added that she wants to marry the married woman, but their families are against it.
Police said that the case is under investigation. They also said that the young woman is a minor and has accused the married woman’s family of poisoning her. However, no official complaint has been filed yet by either side.
Both families are at odds over the relationship and the police have said that they will take action if a formal complaint is lodged. For now, the future of the couple remains uncertain.
