Guwahati: A massive fire erupted in a slum cluster in Fatasil Ambari area of Assam’s capital city Guwahati on Friday evening. According to local police, no casualties have been reported in the fire incident.
Local media reported that as many as 100 houses were gutted in the fire which was triggered after at least 12 cylinders exploded in the slum area behind the Kamakhya Ram Borooah College in Fatasil Ambari.

Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire has been controlled, as per new agency ANI.

The fire incident comes just weeks after a large number of houses and shops were burnt in a similar incident in the Lahorijaan area near Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district along the Assam-Nagaland border on November 23.

According to the police, several cylinders burst in the fire. One four-wheeler and three motorcycles have also been damaged in the fire. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan, John Das, told ANI that no casualty had been reported in the incident.
“Fire tenders have reached the spot and tried to douse the flames. At least 100 houses, business establishments, and shops have been damaged in the fire incident,” John Das had said.
