GUWAHATI, DEC 23: Dibrugarh police arrested a notorius drug peddler and seized 58 grams of suspected heroin from a shack near DTP Dyke in Dibrugarh on Friday.
The drug peddler have been identified as Salim Hussain alias Guddu.
Acting on a specific input, Town Sub Inspector (TSI) along with other police personnel and 171 Bn. of CRPF led by Superintendent of Police (Probational) Ankur Jyoti Borah (APS) apprehended the drug peddler.
“We have earlier detained him in conection with peddling of drugs. We get an input that he was carrying drugs along with him. We have launched an operation near Dibrugarh DTP Dyke and arrested him,” said a police official.
He said, “We have seized 58 grams suspected heroin from his possession which were kept in a shack. We have arrested him under NDPS act,”.
“War against drugs will be continue in Dibrugarh. So far we have held many drug peddler from Dibrugarh and seized huge quanity of contraband items from them,” he said.
On December 22, in another such operation, the state police had seized around 65 grams of suspected heroin worth Rs 70 lakh from the Rangia railway station.
