Seventy one cars from across the country participated in the JSB Car rally in Dibrugarh on Sunday which was organised with a view to promote tourism and adventure motor sports in this part of the region.
The motorsports extravaganza was held in the popular Time Speed Distance (TSD) format and was flagged off from the Old Government Boys’ School field by Major General Vikash Lakhera, IGAR (North) alongwith Brigadier K S Gill of the 73 Mountain Brigade.
The Car Rally was organised by Lions Club of Brahmaputra Valley jointly with Just Sportz Kolkatta, Licensed by FMSCI (The Federation of Motor Sports Club in India) and sponsored by JSB Infrastructures, Dibrugarh.
The total rally distance was set at a maximum of 150 km. The rally provided the drivers an opportunity to drive through jungles, river banks, dusty highways, picturesque locations, tea gardens and remote destinations.
The maximum speed of the cars were capped at 45 kmph with maximum three members per team. The competitors stuck to specified speed limits at all times, and went slow in thickly populated areas.
The name of the winners will be announced late in the evening followed by prize distribution.
