The Bandra police registered an FIR against Saif Raees Khan, 24, for allegedly slapping a constable on Thursday. When Constable Amol Navadkar asked him for a licence, he became angry, tore the constable’s shirt, and slapped him. The police issued a notice to him under Section 35(3). The accused is a scrap dealer and resides in Bandra East.
According to the police, Constable Navadkar resides in Mahim Police Colony and is currently working at Bandra Police Station. On Thursday, at 6 pm, he was regulating traffic on the road from Kherwadi to Mahim Causeway. At around 7:30 pm, two young men were riding a bike. He stopped the biker and asked for his driving licence. Enraged by this, Saif, who was riding a pillion, started abusing him. He pulled Navadkar’s shirt, tore it, and slapped him hard on the cheek while questioning him about having a device to collect fines. Even after being asked to calm down and behave, he continued to obstruct the constable from performing his official duties by behaving aggressively.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Bandra police rushed to the spot. They detained the young man who abused and assaulted Amol Navadkar for questioning. After bringing him to the police station, they registered a case against him under sections related to obstructing government work, abusing, and assaulting a police constable on duty, along with other relevant charges.
Saif resides in the Titanic Building, Dnyaneshwar Bharatnagar, Bandra East. He was released after being issued a notice in connection with these offences. According to the police, the incident occurred because the constable asked for a driving licence.
