Lishan Royals were crowned the champions of the Shuttle Premiere League, a premier badminton tournament which was held in Bangalore. Royals clinched victories in the women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles events. Their clean sweep solidified their dominance and left no doubt about their supremacy on the court. This 2-day tournament brought together 10 dynamic teams competing across 9 intense matches on 2 courts.

Match results

Women’s Doubles: Anagha and Shrava Shine

The tournament kicked off with a riveting women’s doubles match, where Anagha and Shrava from Team Lishan Royals outclassed their opponents, Banu and Manasa, in straight sets. The first set saw Anagha and Shrava take charge with precise shots and solid defense, securing a 21-12 win. The second set was slightly more competitive, but Anagha and Shrava held their nerve to close the match with a 21-14 victory, setting the tone for their team’s dominance.

Mixed Doubles: Shashi Kumar and Tara Seal the Deal

In the mixed doubles match, Shashi Kumar and Tara, also representing Team Lishan Royals, showcased remarkable synergy to defeat their opponents in straight sets. The first set was a nail-biter, with both teams battling fiercely for every point. Shashi Kumar and ’s tactical brilliance ultimately saw them edge out their opponents 21-19. The second set was a more comfortable affair for the duo, as they cruised to a 21-13 win, further extending Team Lishan Royal’s winning streak.

Men’s Doubles: Yuvraj and Vijay’s Heroics

The men’s doubles match featured Yuvraj and Vijay from Team SV facing off against Umesh and Girish. The first set was a dominant performance by Yuvraj and Vijay, who won convincingly. However, the second set brought more intensity, with Umesh and Girish fighting valiantly to stay in the game. Despite their spirited effort, which saw them score 18 points, Yuvraj and Vijay’s consistency and teamwork proved decisive, earning them a straight-sets victory and completing Team Lishan Royal’s clean sweep.

Thane District Kabaddi Championship to be held in Kaler

The Thane District Kabaddi Championship 2025 promises to be an electrifying event, set against the backdrop of Maharashtra’s Kabaddi legacy. Taking place from January 7th to 13th in Kalher, this prestigious tournament features fierce competition across two categories: A and B Men’s Senior teams. A total of 48 men’s teams will battle it out in 7 groups, while 42 women’s teams compete in 6 groups, all vying for a coveted spot on the state team. 

With action unfolding across 6 courts daily, the event is a true spectacle of athleticism, speed, and strategy. The championship not only brings together the region’s best but also showcases the talents of elite Kabaddi players such as Paresh Harad, Umesh Mhatre, Raju Kathore, and Ajay Aher. These renowned athletes, representing top clubs like Shiv Shankar Krida Mandal, Morya Sonale, and Shri Hanuman Seva Mandal, are set to raise the bar and inspire the next generation of Kabaddi stars. 

A district-level tournament with state selection implications, this championship holds immense significance for players aiming to represent Maharashtra.
